Selmer Cigar Cutter Saxophone

The Selmer "Cigar Cutter" was first introduced in 1930 untill 1933 and was really the first saxophone that put Selmer on the map. It had a bigger bore than the earlier models and a more comfortable key lay out.It also had a front F. The flat plate with the hole in the octave mechanism, reminiscent of a cigar tip cutter gave this model its nick-name.Many top musicians found favour with the Cigar Cutter and helped to make it famous. Such Woody Herman ,Hymie Schertzer one time lead Alto with the Miller Band and 40 years later and was still playing on it.
