Arran Santee |
Also, I've created a very useful Twenty-Six Week Lesson Journal. Comprised of alternating assignment pages for teachers to post each week's lesson, and detailed weekly charts for students to keep accurate tabs of what they practiced and how much per day! This helps the teacher determine the student's progress, and if they are assigning too much or too little. It also helps the student and parents keep tabs on how effective their saxophone teacher is! (holding the teacher accountable! No more "just keep working on this etude and I'll see you at your next lesson" from mediocre teachers! It's a 2 way street!!! Teacher's gotta do their absolute best too!). Be efficient, know where everybody stands, chart improvement, keep records (a great almanac!), and you should notice improvement on your instrument! |

Burns Guitars |
JAMES ORMSTON BURNS (1925 - 1998) has often been described as the 'British Leo Fender' a well-deserved and apt title because there are many parallels to be drawn between the two men.
Jim Burns too was very much a pioneer, and his policy of continual development and refinement reflected a constant quest to realise his vision of the ideal electric guitar. Distinctive design ideas were more than matched by accompanying hardware and circuitry and although some such aspects bordered on gimmickry, others offered genuine innovation, and have become accepted concepts, later to be claimed as firsts by other, more illustrious conveniently forgetful makers. |

Crafter Guitars |
was founded by HyunKwon Park in April 1972 in the basement of his home, four people working in a 20 square metre area. In that early period, the company produced classical guitars for the Korean domestic market and these quickly earned a good reputation, mainly for their high quality of sound.
The company soon had to move to new, bigger premises in order to build enough guitars to fulfill the demand and, in 1978, it moved again, this time from Seoul to the new area of Yangju-gun.
At that time, the guitars were branded ‘Sungeum’ which means ‘accomplishing the sound’ and this is still a well known brand in the Korean market, today. HyunKwon’s ambition was always to supply instruments to guitar players throughout the world, however, so he then started to make acoustic and electro-acoustic guitars which had more international appeal. |

Dean Guitars |
Unless you've been spelunking in a deep subterranean grotto for the last year, you know that Dean guitars are staging a comeback. Even vintage models from the late 1970s and early '80s are jumping up in value, thanks to Dimebag Darrell of Pantera, who until only recently was a steadfast Dean user (he now endorses Washburn). So who exactly is Dean? Meet Dean Zelinsky, probably the youngest man to ever start a successful guitar company. Dean made top-quality solidbody guitars and basses for nearly 14 years before getting out of the 6-string business altogether. Nevertheless, Dean axes were -- and still are -- played by many of rock's electric royalty. Now, in a rare interview, Mr. Zelinsky emerges from obscurity to skewer the industry and anything else that moves. Give this man a talk show! |

Impact Amplifiers was started in London in 1963 by Don Mackrill and Laurie Naiff. The company was called Pan Musical Instruments Co. and also had some music stores, Pan Music, Take Five and King Street Music Stores. The factory waslocated inWardour Street, above the famous Flamingo Club. The Impact business was later sold to Dallas Arbiter. I still haven't found out when that happened, but it had to be in the beginning of the 70's. |
