The first Selmer Saxophone model was the Modele 22 and featured silver plated ,gold plated, and gold lacquered finishes, During this time Selmer were situated at 4 Dancort Place Paris .France

Followed by the Model 26 and a few years later the Model 28 which was the first SSS engraved Selmer Super Sax. Then came the famous Cigar Cutter used by many top sax players around the world. Don mackrill used one for 10 years during the 60's

The next model Radio Improved was similar to its predecessor The differences between the Radio Improved and the Cigar Cutter were few apart from the Bell keys.. Selmer then introduced Jimmy Dorsey horn .mainly promoted in the American market More or less the same as the Radio Improved apart from the bell key Struts

Selmer's next saxophone really put Selmer up front for Saxophones in direct compertition with the US famous brands of the day.

The Selmer Balanced Action First introduced in the mid thirties was to become what is now considered the "standard" saxophone design..
In a way there were 3 versions of the balanced Action Inline action with adjusting screws to adust the Middle D a slightly suspect note on the early Selmers, They also had two separate low B & Bb guards on the bell.. The bell was inline as was on most traditional saxophones at the time.
Both bell keys on the right side well designed accurate octave key mechanism, front high F key, as standard .Most Sax players used the Selmer Balanced Action during the 30s particularly if you were on lead alto in the Band

The next Horn was the predecessor to the Mk6 the Selmer Super Action (known in the US as Super Balanced Action) which was a fantastic Saxophone both Alto and Tenor. Detachable Bell more offset than the earlier BA , Made for 6 or 7 years prior to introduction of the Mk6. most had a bright D, Don Mackrill used one of these for 20 years and loved it.
